Ship chartering and UK Port Agency dates back
to the origins of the company. It should always remain an important
part of the business.
There
are many forms of chartering, various contract terms relate to
the employment of a ship. Part or parcel fixtures are more available
as a consequence of increased services from specialist heavy
lift operators and their new and larger ships.
Ship
chartering takes the company into cross-trading globally on many
routes. Foreign to foreign fixtures demand experienced partners
to provide quality and competitive services. Braid has many quality
overseas partners with proven track records.
We
are active in coastal chartering where we manage two ships under
1000 dwcc and fix many other ships of various configurations
to meet customer requirements.

We
perform nationwide port agency services for any vessel type at
any uk port. We also arrange transhipment into barges for inland
deliveries to shallow draft locations and river or canal connected
facilities.
The
company's largest fixture was in july 2000 when we chartered
Queen Elizabeth 2 for one week. The ship became a floating hotel
for guests visiting the millennium open in St Andrews. Over 2,200
guests enjoyed the ship's facilities.
