The Braid family and a management buyout team are pleased to announce that
the John S Braid Group was sold today to the MBO team.
The MBO team was led by Nigel Gray, Group Managing Director and CEO of
John S Braid & Co Ltd Glasgow. In addition to Nigel, the MBO team which has
injected new equity into the Group, comprise Allan Leddra and Andrew Watson of
Braid Logistics Asia, Singapore; Shane Watson of Braid Logistics Australia,
Melbourne; Rick Bagley of Braid Logistics Europe, Le Havre; Allan Haldane,
Garry Russell and Jeff Prowse of John S Braid & Co Ltd, Glasgow.
All members of the Braid family have resigned from the UK board, as have
Maurice McBride and Gerry Lafferty. Allan Haldane has been re-appointed as the
group's UK Financial Director.
A new holding company has been formed with an executive board of five
Directors to steer the Group's corporate global strategy, this board will be
supported by existing executives of the operating companies that will take an
enlarged role in the future growth and development of the business. The new
holding company's board will comprise: Nigel Gray as CEO, Allan Leddra, Shane
Watson, Allan Haldane BA CA as Group Financial Director and a new Non-
Executive Chairman, yet to be appointed.
The Braid Group is a 50 year old diversified logistics service provider. The liquid
bulk distribution side of the business has enjoyed considerable global expansion
over the past four years and provides exciting opportunities and challenges for
the years ahead.
The immediate aims of the executive are to sustain the existing business, retain
the support of the valued customer base and strategic suppliers. Maintain the
standards, goodwill and integrity that have been associated with the company for
so many years.
